About Real Racing

Driver Wayne Lockey has a proven record of success with many wins and lap records to his name. With Mark Sayers having been on board for many seasons, it had been a long run of racing together. They have had numerous top ten finishes both at the TT and the Southern 100, on short circuit, they had gained championship wins and high placings in many other races. We are making plans for this years racing and are setting solid grounds for the next episode in Real Racings goals, including another shot at the British Championship, of course the TT and Southern 100.

We are very happy to have Matthew Rostron back on board for the roads this season. An experienced passenger who did so well in 2022 and stuck by us under very tricky circumstances. We had an emotional TT last year for many reasons and Matthew coped extremely well showing his qualities as an amazing passenger and friend.

The two major races on the Isle of Man will be the main focus of Real Racing’s 2023 season and both the TT and Southern 100 benefit from extensive TV and Radio coverage. TT Live was a new feature for the racing and proved to be a great success for everyone to follow their favourite teams, so you know how to keep up with Real Racing at the TT! Three Wheeling Media are the title sponsors for the sidecars and do a fantastic job filming and following all the events from day to day.

Wayne’s outstanding showing in many of the previous years racings mean that he is always battling amongst the top teams and he and Matthew will be aiming for a strong finish at the TT and the Southern 100.

TV footage from the TT is shown World wide, in keeping with the International flavour of the event, and it’s been estimated that the TT has been seen in a billion households across 140 countries.

All major racing on the Isle of Man is broadcast live on Manx Radio and made available online reaching a global audience.

Real Racing’s exploits will be followed by a photojournalist from Gloucestershire’s two daily papers, which between them reach homes throughout the county and are seen by upwards of 200,000 people. There is also the possibility of coverage in the national fortnightly publication BSN which specialises in the coverage of motor cycle racing throughout Britain and abroad.

Last but definitely not least, motor cycle racing has a strong spectator following, especially at the Isle of Man, where upwards of 30,000 visitors are expected. The Southern 100 has become hugely popular with rapidly increasing visitor numbers and is now one of the most important races on the sidecar calendar.

The potential exists for huge advertising exposure via TV, Radio, Print Media and event spectators. Like all forms of motor sport, performance costs money. Helping Wayne find the extra performance needed to compete with the best in the business is where your help as a potential backer will be needed.

Sidecar racing is an exciting, unusual and above all, friendly sport and the outfits have plenty of fairing space on which company names and brands can be displayed.

Future Plans

Real Racing’s plans for 2023 will be centred on the Isle of Man TT once again, where Wayne will hope to build on previous experience and hopefully improve on last year’s 12th place finish, in what is now arguably the most famous race in the World. Wayne will also return to the Southern 100, the scene of his finest hour in pure road racing where he had two podium finishes in 2017 and a Fourth place with Matthew in 2022. They undoubtedly have the talent to compete with the best on the roads but needs the right backing to help fulfil their potential.

On the short circuits, the plan for this year is the British Championship.  Along side Wayne, will be the one and only ‘Binzy’, Benjamin Binns from the Isle of Man. An experienced passenger who has seen TT podium status and who has raced with many top drivers. Ben and his family made a huge commitment to the team in 2022, many times turning up to race and the engine failed so he only got a couple of practice laps in, or even none!! An extremely loyal and dedicated man who Wayne and all of us at Real Racing hold huge respect for. Wayne and Ben have gelled so well together on the outfit and we know that they have the potential to be a winning team! They will be up against  some of the cream of sidecar racers, a spot which they have proven they both belong.
